Personal Nedjeljko Perić, Ph.D., (1950) graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Zagreb, Croatia, in 1973. He received his Master's degree and Doctor's degree from the same Faculty in 1980 and 1989, respectively.

From 1973 to 1993 he worked at "Rade Končar" Institute of Electrical Engineering as a Researcher, Head of Positioning Systems Department and Manager of the Automation Section. In 1993 he was employed as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing of the University of Zagreb, Department of Control and Computer Engineering. He was appointed as a Full Professor in 1997. He was the Head of the Department (1996-1998, 2000-2004), Vice Dean for science of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (1998-2000) and Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (2010-2014).

Professor Perić today teaches number of undergraduate and graduate courses. Under his supervision more than 170 diploma theses, 26 master theses and 16 doctor dissertations were made. In his professional activities he has been concerned with a wide range of problems related to research, development and application of controlled electrical drives, as well as complex control systems of a variety of plants and processes. His scientific and research work is particularly remarkable in the following areas: digital control, process identification, estimation and advanced control. He authored or co-authored more than 70 reviewed technical reports, and over 270 scientific and technical papers published in international journals and conference proceedings. He was in charge of over 50 research and development projects, which were financially supported by scientific funds, state institutions as well as by commercial companies. He initiated and realized several teaching and research laboratories at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing such as Laboratory for Plants and Processes Automation and Laboratory for Renewable Energy Systems (LARES).

For over 30 years he has been participating in the work of national and international professional associations and for many years he has been the president of the Croatian Society for Communications, Computing, Electronics, Measurements and Control (KoREMA). Professor Perić is a member of several international associations (IEEE as a Senior Member, IASTED, IFAC) and a Full Member of Croatian Academy of Engineering. He was a member (1995-2005) and the president (2000-2005) of the National Committee for the field of Electrical Engineering and Computing. He was a member of the Regional Council for Technical Sciences (1994-2000, 2005-2009), and Science Council (1994-2000) of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Republic of Croatia. He was a member of the Senate of the University of Zagreb (2010-2016) and a member of the Rector Board of the same University.

During his career, Professor Perić received many awards such as: "Prof. dr. V. Bedjanič prize” (1980) for his master thesis, Silver plague "Josip Lončar" of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (1989) for his doctor dissertation, “First prize of Rade Končar Corporation” for his professional and scientific work (1989), "INOVA '93" Golden Plaque, "Rikard Podhorsky prize” of the Croatian Academy of Engineering (2005), the Golden plague "Josip Lončar" (2005) from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, „Annual State Award for Science” for significant scientific achievement, and for research of the advanced control and estimation strategies in complex technical systems (2008), “Fran Bošnjaković Award” of the University of Zagreb, for special merits in the development and promotion of automation as a fundamental branch in the field of technical sciences, and for education of young professionals in the field of automation (2009) and “IEEE Croatia award Nikola Tesla“ for outstanding scientific, expert and educational contribution in the field of automatic control and advanced control methods for renewable energy systems, 2013.
Since November 2015, Professor Perić is the director of Innovation Centre Nikola Tesla, Zagreb (http://www.icent.hr).
